Drift city wear
Hi, my name is Annie Miriam Mushombe. I am 14 years old and about to start high school. I was born in a refugee camp in Malawi, Africa. My family had escaped war in the Democratic Republic of Congo and we came to the United States in 2013 when I was just three years old.
When we first arrived, we were homeless for two years. People promised to help us raise money for a home but they stole everything. After that all 13 of us lived in a small five bedroom rental until the landlord sold it. Now we live in an old house with black mold that has made some of my brothers sick. My dad is 60. He broke his back in a car accident and was told he could become paralyzed if he moves too much but he still secretly fixes cars just to provide for us. My mom is 55 and works two jobs. We depend on EBT and Section 8 housing to survive.
And then in 2021 my older brother passed away. It broke us. Our life was already hard but losing him sent everything into a deeper struggle. He had a dream to start a clothing brand with me, something that would represent people like us who grew up with nothing. He never got to make it. But I promised myself I would finish what he started.
That is why I created Drift City Wear DCW.
Drift City Wear is not just a clothing line. It is my way of turning pain into purpose. It is about giving people who feel invisible something that makes them feel proud. I have worn hand me downs my whole life. I know what it feels like to not belong. But I want to build a brand that helps people stand tall no matter their background.
DCW offers affordable high quality clothing made for real people especially those in low income and overlooked communities. Fashion should not be a luxury. Everyone deserves to feel confident in what they wear.
I am asking for your help to bring this dream to life. Any donation will make a difference even just a dollar. And if you cannot give please share this with someone who might want to support a young founder chasing a dream born from hardship and love.

Thank you for reading this. I know I am young but I am serious passionate and ready to work. I want Drift City Wear to be a brand people trust. A brand that proves no matter where you come from you still matter.
With hope
